Folland's Forgotten Monoplanes (Part 2)
Part 2 of Ralph Pegram’s feature article about Henry Folland appears on page 74 of Issue number 10 of “The Aviation Historian”, published today. More information about this modern journal of classic aeroplanes and the history of flying can be found at http://www.theaviationhistorian.com/. Folland’s sleek design for the Gloster High-Speed Mail Carrier (above) was one of a number of single-wing types that, to Folland’s dismay, never got further than the drawing board. The author’s three-dimensional rendering is based on previously unpublished drawings from the RAeC Collection. Photographs from the Collection were used to illustrate the journal articles about Folland (below left) and about Ronald Campbell Kemp (below right) and Frederick Phillips Raynham.
