Doncaster Aviation Meeting 1909
The first aviation meeting in England was held at Doncaster Racecourse from 18-23 October 1909. Around a dozen aviators were present, the most famous being Léon Delagrange and Roger Sommer. The Trust’s Heritage Volunteers have recently identified in the archives, a ticket for the event. The ticket price of £4 was worth nearly £400 in today’s money. Together with a copy of both the poster and the programme for this event, the ticket completes the set of memorabilia for this event in the Trust’s Collection. Hi-resolution images of these and other items in the Collection are available, subject to terms and conditions.
